Katie Rutterer is a personal trainer (NASM) and yoga teacher (RYT-500) in Washington, DC. She has been working in the fitness industry for 12 years and is passionate about helping people move. Katie specializes in working with women who want to get stronger but who don’t know where to start, or are intimidated by the weight room. She also holds a certification from Girls Gone Strong specializing in pre and postnatal coaching.

Originally from St. Louis, Katie attended Washington University and has a BA in fine arts. After college, she moved to Tucson, AZ and joined the masters program at the University of Arizona, earning a MFA in choreography and performance from the School of Dance. While still living in Arizona, she studied with Darren Rhodes and Christina Sells and received her RYT 200 from Yoga Oasis.

In 2012, Katie discovered running and has run over 10 half marathons, 2 full marathons, and many 5 and 10k races. As a runner, she learned how to use strength and mobilitymobillity to support running and prevent injury. A year later, she discovered CrossFit and olympic lifting.

Katie earned her CF L1 and L2 in 2015 and has coached CrossFit, Bootcamp, and yoga/mobility for weightlifters. She has studied with Kelly Starrett, Jill Miller, and Jules MItchell to continue to accrue knowledge on fascia release, biomechanics, and mobility. She also holds certifications in FRC, Animal Flow, and Yoga Tune Up.

Katie’s offerings include meditation/breathwork workshops, private yoga/strength/mobility classes, corporate yoga classes, and small group training. She operates from an empowerment perspective and believes in allowing clients and students to be in charge of their own selves.
